In honour and in the memory of Derek

Recently Roni and Nick were asked to complete a commission for a very special client who we will refer to just as ‘June’.

We were asked to complete a superior set of dinner placemat settings with accompanying coasters in a very tasteful light grey, with delicate tendrils and lacing of black on a white background.

The commision went perfectly and the paints flowed for Roni resulting in 101 Ooooh’s and Aaaah’s coming from her paint room. A sure sign that she was super pleased with how the creations were coming along.

The final results Roni created were truly stunning and, thanks to the continued feedback from June, proved to be exactly what the brief had asked for.

On delivery day at June’s inspiring home we were kindly invited inside and we were deeply touched to hear that June only recently lost her deeply beloved husband Derek, as a result of a medical condition against which he fought right up to the bitter end. Such a tragic loss of a devoted husband and loving father who we then found out had put his life in jeopardy countless times as a heroic fire fighter from the 1970’s onward. June spoke with such passion that it made Roni and Nick choke back a tear or two.

Towards the end of the presentation June asked if the commission had been given a name. At the time we asked that we would be allowed a little time to consider this. Having given the matter the most sincere thought we would be honoured if June would allow us to name the commission

Derek’s Honour

It was a pleasure to present the commision to June, It was even more of an honour to be invited into the home of such a gracious lady and her dearly departed fire-fighter hero of a husband, Derek.

Our special thanks and heart felt codolences go out to June and her family.
